Dr. Clifford Cockerham
After serving as an advisor in program development and an instructor in field ecology for college students joining visiting research faculty, I became Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the MEER Center; facilitating the emergence of a coherent pedagogy that reflects indigenous perspectives as they engage local socio-economic/political concerns and forces of globalization. This vision permeates MEER Center programs, classes, experiential immersions, community service work, community empowerment efforts, climate change monitoring/mitigation research, development, & demonstration projects, etc. In addition to being personally involved with the community education & outreach program, I have worked to bring the MEER Center into engagement with the UN Millennium Development Goals, the Earth Charter, the Jemez Principles, the Xavier Green School Movement, the Climate Emergency Coalition, the Global Catholic Climate Movement, Physicians for Social Responsibility, etc.
